Hearing aids have become much smaller and have a greater range of acoustic options. Real ear measures of hearing aid gain greatly increase the ability to tailor this to the pure tone audiogram, and computerized methods are available to estimate likely benefit. This edition discusses these changes in practice. Chapters on paediatric otology have been added.
